What is Jointora?

Jointora is where creators ask their audience to help with something specific: a microphone, a documentary, three months of research. Instead of a general "donate" button, you see exactly what your money helps make happen, how close it is, and what the creator delivered in the end.

Who uses Jointora?

Anyone with an audience: writers, educators, musicians, filmmakers, podcasters, programmers and more.

Do supporters need an account?

No. Open a request, choose an amount and pay. You can add your name and a message, or support anonymously. Creators need an account to publish requests.

How do I start a request as a creator?
  1. Create an account and set up your public profile.
  2. Connect your payout account under Payments.
  3. Write your request: what you need, how much, and an optional deadline.
  4. Publish it and share the link anywhere.
Can I edit a request after publishing?

No. Once a request is live, supporters are backing exactly what they read, so it can't be changed. Check the details carefully before you publish. You can still post progress updates and mark it completed. If you made a mistake and nobody has supported it yet, you can delete it.

How can my audience pay?

Payments are handled by our payment provider, Paystack, on its secure checkout. Available methods depend on the supporter's country and may include cards and mobile money.

Is there a fee?

There is no monthly fee. Jointora takes a 5% platform fee on each contribution, and the rest goes to the creator. Payment processors can charge their own fees, which are shown to you by the provider.

How do creators get paid?

When a supporter pays, the payment is split automatically: the platform fee to Jointora, and the rest to the creator's connected payout account. Your payment provider then pays it out on its normal settlement schedule.

Is Jointora safe?
  • We never see or store card numbers. Paystack handles card details.
  • A payment only counts after our payment provider confirms it to our servers.
  • Payment records can't be edited by creators, and nobody can create a payment by hand.
What happens if a creator doesn't deliver?

Every request shows progress updates and, once finished, the result. If something looks wrong, contact us and we will look into it. We can hide requests and suspend accounts that break our rules.

Can a payment be refunded?

Refunds are handled case by case. Contact us with the request name and roughly when you paid, and we will help.

Who owns my supporters and my page?

You do. Jointora doesn't email your supporters on your behalf, and you can download your contribution list from your dashboard.

How do I contact Jointora?

Use the contact form and a real person will reply by email.
